I am an Abu Dhabi-based freelance journalist, copywriter and translator with a background in media and cultural studies and public relations. Mostly, I write about travel, media, culture, sustainability and current affairs in Britain, Austria, the Maldives and the UAE.

I am addicted to travel, concerned about the environment, in love with culture and intrigued by current affairs. Luckily, I sometimes get paid for being the nosy, stubborn stickler that I am and have had the pleasure of working for Monocle, Wanderlust, Sunday Times Travel and River Publishing.

Having finished a postgraduate degree in International Journalism at City University, I have started to get into photography (using an ancient Minolta XG9 and a less ancient Canon EOS 10D Digital SLR). I’m also experimenting with video and audio production and, as you can see from this humble website, web design and content management.

In the hope of increasing my chances of obtaining both sunshine and employment I have relocated to Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, in October 2009.

I have recently started learning Arabic, which will be my fifth language - after English, German, Spanish and French.

When the weather is good I enjoy rock climbing, snowboarding, scuba diving and hiking. Reading, writing and travelling are always a good way to spend a weekend, whatever the weather.
